 Salamanca is a beautiful city well known for its University, which is the oldest in Spain. The University is still full of students making this a young and live city with a great night life.
Salamanca is rich in architectural monuments and sites. Nevertheless, it has been declared 'World Heritage Site' by the UNESCO.

The cathedral: example of plateresque style marking the transition from the Gothic to the Renaissance. The 'Golden Chapel' is full of magnificent works of sculpture.

Universtiy Quarter: The University of Salamanca is one of the oldest in the world. The building is considered a masterwork of plateresque style. The façade is decorated with various figures, and the best known is the 'frog on a skull', which many tourists try to make out between the numerous small figures.
Plaza Mayor: A large square created in the 18th century. It is considered the real center of the town. There are monuments such as the church Iglesia de la Purisima or the Monastery of Saint Ursula.
